Real Men?

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. Isaiah 3:12

What do all these men have in common? Think for a moment. Can you figure it out? They all have the same role. Give up?

They all play the "big dumb husband". Have you not noticed that this is the most common role for men to play now days. They all have something else in common.

They have a smart, sensible, "have it all together" wife who is there to help her dumb husband through life. She is the one running the household while the husband is always doing things behind her back trying not to get in trouble. The wife is the one raising the kids while the husband is clueless when it comes to the kids. The male leadership role has taken a 180 degree turn.

Remember Bill Cosby, The Waltons, Leave it to Beaver, Little House on the Prairie, etc.

Our society is flooded with this image, and it’s not just on television. How many times do we hear wives talking about how stupid their husbands are.

Are men really this way? Maybe not most but some are. Are they really inferior to women? Or are they living up to societies expectations? This isn't the way it is supposed to be.

Men should be the head of their household...

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Ephesians 5:23

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3

For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 1 Corinthians 11:8-9

Now, this does not mean men are to be oppressors.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. Ephesians 5:28

Men no longer see children as their “job.” But parenting IS the father’s job.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but BRING THEM UP in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:1, 4

For, Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Children, are to be a BLESSING to parents. Psalm 127:4-5 says, "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. HAPPY is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall NOT be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."

As you can clearly see I'm against the "Big Dumb Husband" as much as I'm against feminism. They both go completely against the Bible. The Bible sets out clear role definitions. Neither the dumb husband nor feminism should have a place in a Christian's life.
