Holy is the Lord

This week God has reminded me how Holy of a God we worship.  Remember in 1 Chron 13:10 when the ark of the Lord began to fall and Uzza put out his hand to steady it so it wouldn't fall on the ground - and God struck him dead for touching it? So many people wonder why God would do that. RC Sproul put it well when he said, Uzza's mistake was assuming his hand was cleaner than he ground. The dirt has always done what God commands it to do. It rains, the dirt turns to mud. The sun shines the dirt hardens back up. It always does what God has commanded - man on the other hand....

This brings a whole new exhortation to "Be ye holy; for I am holy!" doesn't it? (1 Pet 1:16)

But, thankfully we are not depending on ourselves to work this holiness in us - it is the Lord that works in us.

Php 2:12-13 says, "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."

and

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. (1Th 5:24)

How we are blessed! Amen :-)
