My old KJV Bible got a new life!

About a week ago, I sent my old Bible off to get rebound. It has been my daily study companion, and has been with me through four surgeries of loved ones and a cross country move. Sending it off was one of the hardest things I've done. In a way, it contained years of my life. But, it was either fix it or retire it.

I wish I had taken "before" pictures. I did find some on the web similar to the condition mine was in, so I'll post those here for you. Mine is a Holman Giant Print KJV Reference Bible. It used to have a maroon cover similar to the one below. My pages were also splitting like you see below, and the back had come away from the spine.

Thanks to Ace Book Bindery, who took my old friend with the glued pages (WHY do Bible Publishers DO this?? A glued Bible does not last! ....The love of money.........) and sewed the pages in properly, gave me a new cover, 3 ribbon markers and printed my name on the cover.

This is so special to me. Two women that have been spiritual mentors to me have had their hand on this Bible. My Mom bought it for me years ago and I've cherished it. My Aunt rebound it for me as a gift, and I treasure it. It doesn't get any better than that! Thank you Lord for being so good to me.

Great are thy tender mercies, O LORD!! (Psalms 119:156a)

Thank you for sharing this. I have a Bible that I have known for a couple of years that I'm going to have to replace. But I just couldn't stand the thought of all my notes not being in my new Bible. So, I am so glad to find this! Thank you!

Sarah, praise God!!! :)

I searched for a replacement Bible for about 6 months before I realized none could "replace" mine. Ace rebound it for $79. They turned it around quickly and it feels so sturdy and well done. The cover is a beautiful thick leather. I just can't get over it. I will use them again. It feels so good to have my old friend back. <3

I have been so careful with mine -- I wanted it to last. My MiL created a cover for it when it was close to twenty years old and it has helped. Rebinding is a wonderful answer to one that is used and used and used again. My notes, other's notes, highlights -- all speak to how much time I spend with God's word. I would dislike losing that history with Him.

Grammy, how fabulous that your Bible has lasted so long! I pray that this one will too now that it has been bound properly. You're right, our Bibles show our history and walk with God through the years and that is priceless.

Bill, I'm so glad this was a blessing! They blessed me so much. I've had my Bible back 3 days now and I still tear up having it back, so strong and beautiful.
