I inserted Proverbs 11:30 into this post not because I am a good example of a soul winner and thus I should remind you to be one, but because of the following short example...............
This past week at church we were studying the topic of faith in Jesus as the Son of God. During the course of the study soul-winning came up as a point in the teaching. The simple point that we have a responsibility to tell people how to be saved was addressed. It was also pointed out that there are multiple programs out there to teach people how to win souls. I made the point that we are "programmed out"...The issue is not having a fancy program that will include someintellectually and exclude some. The issue is that there are not enough Christians going out and trying to be a witness. It's this simple; we need the Holy Spirit before us, John 3:16 and the Romans Road, and Matthew 28:19-20. Alot of churches are making it too difficult for members to get involved and be excited about visitation because of the "high-browed" programs that the flock has to endure to feel worthy of visitation.
My parents got saved by door to door visitation. The process of plant, water and increase was faithfully followed. The Holy Spirit did his work in their hearts and they trusted Christ.
I say get back to how it was done when I was a kid....Save the church some money and open up the KJV and let the Holy Spirit teach you instead of buying a regimented program.
