''DEATH AND LIFE ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE"

JAMES 3:8....BUT THE TONGUE CAN NO MAN TAME ;IT IS AN UNRULY EVIL ,FULL OF DEADLY POISON.

10 COMMANDMENTS FOR THE TONGUE:

01. THOU SHALT NOT GOSSIP.
Before any evil story whispered in the ear is passed on, it should be treated as the housewife treats apples for a pie....first peeled, then quartered, and cored, then what remains, liberally sugared.
PROVERBS 18:8...The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

02. THOU SHALT NOT USE A MULTITUDE OF EMPTY WORDS.
Your tongue reveals the nature of your thinking and your character. The divine Master Himself, admonishes the children of men to "let your admonishes be yea, yea, nay, nay, for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."
PROVERBS 10:19...In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

03. THOU SHALT NOT BOAST.
A small man makes long, loud boasting in order to center the spot light of attention on himself; the great man works quietly, silently polishing the beacon that it may guide the ship safely into the desired haven.
PROVERBS 27:2.....Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

04.THOU SHALT NOT FLATTER.
Someone has said, "flattery is like soft soap, its 99% lye"....and you can count on the ratio being just about right. The words of a man or woman who would flatter you, according to the Psalmist, who had a great deal of experience with that sort of thing, are "softer than oil, yet with drawn swords."

05. THOU SHALT NOT GRUMBLE.
The prescription for this malady is to saturate your life with loving kindness...Let it enter every pore and the process will be absolutely foolproof against the gnawing frets and worries that are worse than termites, to eat the soul out of you.
PHILIPPIANS 2:14...Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

PHILIPPIANS 2:15..That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

06, THOU SHALT NOT BACKBITE OR SLANDER.
The tongue that backbites is the tongue that empties Churches, pours streams of bickering humans into divorce courts, fills our jails with wretched humanity, and lashes men and women to Satan's kingdom.
PSALM 64:3...Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

07. THOU SHALT NOT MOCK OR MAKE FUN.
Let us learn sympathy and give our fellows a helping hand instead of mockery, no matter how peculiar or odd they maybe. Remember Angels visit the earth in all kind of guises.
JOB 11:3....Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

08. THOU SHALT NOT LIE.
The first recorded lie was told in the garden of Eden.Since then, the practice has spread like a plaque throughout the whole earth. Everyone hates a lying tongue.
EXODUS 20:16....Thy shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

09. THOU SHALT NOT SWEAR.
Profanity is the official language of the devil's kingdom. Have not part in it for it will disqualify you for heaven.
EXODUS 20:7....Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.

10. THOU SHALT NOT ARGUE IN ANGER.
What ever the provocation is, remember that "Silence is golden" and "a soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievious words stir up anger."
HOSEA 7:16....They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword FOR THE RAGE OF THEIR TONGUE:this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

I have come to see that pride and the sins of the tongue are some of the worst sins of all. They cause people to do and say things that if they were in their right minds,it would not happen.I have been guilty before of some of the things, have you?

Shine an imaginary mirror on to the thoughts and motives of your heart. Are they pure? Are do we act from interior motives that other may not know about? Shine it deeply, what do you see there? Was that word or action necessary? or was it PRIDE, having its perfect work? Have we used our tongues to breakdown, hurt, destroy, for our own purposes? Do we stretch the truth so much that it has become lies?

OR

Do we use our tongues to build up, encourage to teach good things to others? Do others see Christ is all our words and actions? Do we tell others how they can be saved and become a new creature and then we act like the devil's own disciple? Do we have good and sweet things come from our mouths, or do we use them for bitterness and hate?

In JAMES 3:BUT THE TONGUE CAN NO MAN TAME ;IT IS AN UNRULY EVIL ,FULL OF DEADLY POISON.
We know this verse is true because it was written by the inspiration of the Holy spirit. It is true therefore that ''NO MAN CAN TAME THE TONGUE!" It can only be tames by letting the Holy Spirit take control of it and uses it in the right way. The way that God intended it to be used. We will be held accountable for how we use our tongue.

As with all other sins, when we see that we have sinned, we have only one option opened to us. We realize we have sinned, we are full of sorrow over our sins and we ask with a repentant heart for God to forgive us. He promises that He will do it in 1john 1:9....If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. God can not lie!In 2Corinthians 7:10-11 says.....verse 10....For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. It has to be real sorrow unto true repentance not something make believe just for the world to see.

Verse 11 says.....For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, WHAT CAREFULNESS IT WROUGHT IN YOU, YEA, WHAT CLEARING OF YOURSELVES, YEA, WHAT VEHEMENT DESIRE, YEA, WHAT ZEAL, YEA, WHAT REVENGE! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Don't our hearts ache when we know we have done wrong, We don't have peace, any peace with anyone. We have no joy or happiness, only the make believe kind. It has not been worth it to me in the past. When we take the steps that God gives, then we can have peace and joy overflowing. We can have a clean heart, a restful mind. Our balance is restored because our fellowship with our Lord is restored. I love that last sentence of the above verse....."IN ALL THINGS YE HAVE APPROVED YOURSELVES TO BE CLEAR IN THIS MATTER. connie
