New Year Resolutions

Thank you!
First, let me start by saying how thankful I am to have over 100 blogging members of IFBKJV.com. When I started this website long ago, I had a hard time finding Christians who were doctrinally sound online. I started KJV Devos for a similar reason. Years ago, the only KJV devotions you could find were Spurgeon's! Now we have a number of good IFB men and women either posting, or who have given me permission to repost, devotions that only reference the KJV every day! I am always looking for more help in this endeavor.

A few months ago I merged several sites (the blog directory, the KJV devotions, quotes and quips, and IFBKJV sermons) into this one "mega site". If you have blogging friends who are IFB and KJV, please invite them to join us! It is free, and all I ask for is a linking button back. This site is ad free because I am not in it for personal financial gain, but I am in it for personal spiritual gain, and to spiritually benefit others as well. I would love to see more blogs join
http://ifbkjv.com/ in 2011.

Let me take a moment here to invite those who link to us, or read us via Blogger or
our Facebook Page to become authors! Many of the people I ask to write or post articles express the opinion that what they have to say is not worth posting on IFBKJV.com. On the main page you can post just about anything! Take a minute to read back through the older posts we have recently had, and you will find political opinion, YouTube links, interesting emails, quotes, thoughts, sermons, notes, devotions, recipes, graphic pictures with Scriptures, church planter biographies, poems, etc!

Please email
water05201@hotmail.com, because IFBKJV.com can have up to 100 authors, and I know you all have valuable and interesting things to share here. I do ask that you add "Jump Breaks" for long articles (more than one page in length). There is an excellent article on how to add them here: http://buzz.blogger.com/2009/09/you-might-as-well-jump.html

For 2011 I have two main resolutions.
One is to clean up old and dead links here. Sometimes this happens because people stop blogging. Sometimes they change their blog URL and forget to tell me. Sometimes they remove the linking button because their position doctrinally has changed. This week I will be going through and cleaning up the site. If your blog is missing, please let me know, and I will fix it immediately. Be sure your blog links back to us. I hope to add more blogs this year, and in fact, today I have added two! Welcome!

However, it is now 1:00, and my other resolution is to go to bed by 1:00am. So, even though I have only made it through checking the "A" blogs, I will have to continue this tomorrow. Goodnight, God bless, and happy blogging in 2011!

New Webmaster Resource

For years I have used RefTagger (there has been a link to it on the sidebar under "Free Resources") which is a line of script you add to your website or blog that pops up a verse for every reference you type.

Examples:

Jn. 3:16

John 3:16-18

John 3:16, 18

Well, today I found out about a similar free service from AV1611.com called VerseClick! The difference is, the AV1611 site only links to the KJV. It's a very easy install (one line of code) and the directions are simple to follow. If you want to try it out, go to their website at http://av1611.com/verseclick - I will be installing it on all my blogs next week.

New Look

You may notice a new look today on my IFB KJV blogs. I updated all the templates using the new custom ones available. They are really nice, and it was easier than I thought. What I think I like the best is being able to customize your column widths. It might take up to two days for everything to function as it used to. Please let me know if anything looks "off" to you with a comment below.

I also finally purchased a domain (all my blogs used to cost me nothing but time). Through Blogger it was ten dollars a year. The new domain is IFBKJV.com which brings you to this blog roll. Don't worry, the old address will continue to point here as well.

Coupon Newbie Book Giveaway

In addition to the IFB KJV Blogroll, KJV Devos and various other online projects, I recently started a coupon and freebie blog to document my own progress, store my recipes and meal plans, and share information I found. Coupon Newbie just got it's 100th fan on Facebook.

To celebrate, I am giving away your choice of one of three of the following books. To enter, become a fan on Facebook of Coupon Newbie HERE, and then comment on the Facebook photo HERE. Giveaway ends July 16, 2010.

Have You Tried the New Blogger Templates?

I have been putting it off for about a week, even though every time I go in to change a setting or moderate a comment, I get an annoying pop up. Today I got an idea to add a budget meals menu (monthly) are to my Coupon Newbie blog, and the time was right. The new templates are really cool! There are so many choices! Between the new template styles, and all the backgrounds to customize, you have a lot to choose from. Amazingly I was able to find a piggy bank, which has been my theme image since I started this blog a few months ago.
One problem I did run into, which was irritating, was that fact that any HTML gadgets you add or edit now require titles. However, I found a very simple fix here, which did work perfectly. I thought I would pass the info on. Comment if you redo your blog so I can see your new layout!

IFB KJV Blog Roll Announcement

We have been having trouble with spammers commenting (in characters that look Chinese), and linking to porn sites for the past few weeks. If you are not aware of this, thank the Lord, I try to delete them asap. Unless anyone is opposed, I am going to turn off commenting without preapproval. This may mean comments will take a while to show up, but it will get rid of any porn comments, and hopefully take us off their radar. If you can help moderate comments, send me a note, and I will add your email to the comment moderation notification list. I am so thankful for all the community help on this blog roll, I love reading the post you all submit. God bless!

Online Baptist History Resources

Pastor David Peterman has been a member here for some time now. He has a blog that includes: "'Online Baptist History' portion of my personal blog. There are more than 30 Baptist History books posted there. Some have downloadable PDF. versions listed online for FREE! Baptists today know shamefully little about thier own heritage, here is a FREE resource for you!"

Check it out on his blog at http://revonator.wordpress.com/free-online-baptist-history-resources/

How to Treat Worldly Teenagers

Found Online
This is an excellent article by John Doss, Assistant Pastor of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, with the main points being:
1. Don’t expect unspiritual people to understand spiritual matters.
2. Don’t be afraid to take a stand for what is right when around worldly people.
3. Don’t try to change them, and don’t let them change you.
4. If they are rude to you, make sure you are not rude to them.
5. They need to see and not hear what a good Christian you have become.
6. You must keep a good attitude.

Links for Bloggers

Some have been mentioned here before, but all of them are helpful free resources to use for blogging.

Bible hyperlinking application, it's pretty cool, actually. It takes a verse reference, and links it to the verse in the Bible; when you mouse over the reference, the verse pops up.
Testing area:
John 3:16
John 3:16-18, 22, 25
Psalm 1:1
Ps. 1:1

These stock photos can be freely used, depending on permissions, and there are a lot of them to choose from (including the picture in this post)!

Add your blog posts to Twitter effortlessly and automatically whenever you post.

Add your blog posts to your Facebook feed - you can also set this up to publish to a page you created on Facebook (it doesn't work for groups). I use this every day, and never have to do a thing. It's very dependable, and I have used it for quite some time.

Ever wonder who is talking about you? Google Alerts are super simple to set up, and will send you an email as requested when key phrases are posted online. Thanks Granny Blick for the advice!

With "Add to Any" you can share any post or get subscribed to by readers. If you use it, I suggest going to "more options" and choosing the "no script (no drop-down menu)" option to avoid script errors or annoying mouseovers. Those of you who remember our script error problems on this blog directory a few months ago now know why.

The HTML Source is a wonderful site if you ever get lost in code!

IFB KJV Resources is a site I started to "park" free links I had found online that were IFB and KJV. I would love to hear about more links you might have favorited that you use often when blogging.

New Changes to the IFB KJV Blogroll

First of all, let me say how much I appreciate all our guest authors who post articles on the main block of text! If you are a blogroll member, you are more than welcome to receive "Author Permission" to post directly to the blogroll (this is the left hand column), just email me at water05201@hotmail.com. If you are not a blogroll member, but are an IFB and have a blog on any topic, join our blogroll! :)

The main change today (beside the template), is that I have shortened the updates list to ten entries. This allows the front page of the blogroll to not be so very long. If you do not see your blog on the list, just make a post to your blog, and in a few minutes, your blog will be at the top of the list! The updates list will always show the ten most recently updated blogs on our blogroll. If your article has included a picture, it will be on the updates list. Let me know if you have any questions or ideas.

I am adding a list of all the blogs on the blogroll, since the updates gadget will no longer list them all. I am using this opportunity to check all blogs for closed blogs/moved blogs and updating to your new site. If it is not updated yet, check again in a few hours. I've also simplified the share and subscribe codes, if you are using them to get new entries emailed to you. God bless!

Blog Advice

I am always looking for advice and help on making my blog more accessible or improved. Do you have any blogging tips or websites with tips that have helped you improve your blog? Here are the websites that I have found very helpful and which I keep on my favorites list and refer back to:

To get listed towards the top of google and other search engines you need Meta Tags. Here is a website about them and instructions on how to add them to blogger (a bit tricky, but this site makes it easy. If it doesn't work the first time, it's likely because you have an apostrophe in the description or keywords). http://www.bloggertricks.com/2007/12/adding-meta-tags-to-bloggerblogspot.html It takes a few days for the listing to take effect, so be patient, but it's free!

Looking for images to use? These stock photos can be used (depending on permissions) and there are a lot of them to choose from! http://www.sxc.hu/ I find adding an image to a post makes it more enjoyable to read for some reason.

Add your blogs to twitter effortlessly and automatically when you post using http://twitterfeed.com/ - you can also do this with your facebook account using http://www.networkedblogs.com/. Once you set it up, when you post to your blog, it will put your post on your twitter or FB feed. With networked blogs you can also set it up to only add the blog posts you want to add manually.

Blogging Resources

I'm adding a Bible hyperlinking application to this blog. It's pretty cool, actually. It's also free, if you are interested in adding it to your blog. What it does, is take a verse reference, and link it to the verse in the Bible; when you mouse over the reference, the verse pops up.

Testing area:

John 3:16

John 3:16-18, 22, 25

Psalm 1:1

Ps. 1:1

Note: Bible references are case sensitive, so john 3:16 would not be tagged, nor would GEN 1:1.

The application can be found HERE; you just add it like any other Blogger gadget, and it's just as easy to remove. :)
